Moong dal Sambar without Sambar powder / Sambar recipe / Chappathi & poori Side dish / Goki’s Kitchen

Ingredients for making Moong dal sambar:

1. Oil – 4 tbsp
2. Urad dal – 1/4 tsp
3. Cumin seeds / Jeera – 1/4 tsp
4. Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
5. Few curry leaves
6. Green Chilies – 6
7. Small onion/shallots- 10
8. Tomatoes – 2 (Medium size)
9. Moong dal – 1 glass
10. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
11. Salt 
12. Few coriander leaves

Let”s start:
Step – 1:
In a pan add Oil – 4 tbsp, Urad dal – 1/4 tsp, Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp, Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp,
Few Curry leaves, Green chilies – 6, Small onions/shallots – 10, Tomatoes – 2 and cook them till the tomato becomes soft.  Then turn off the stove and set aside.

   

Step – 2:
In a pressure cooker add Moong dal – 1 glass (washed well for 4 times) and then add the above-sauted tomato mix, Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp, Salt, 3 or 4 glasses of water (if you want thick consistency then add only 3 glasses of water), and finally add the coriander leaves and cover the cooker lid, cook for the 2 whistles and rest it for 20 minutes then open the cooker.
